Empowering kids through language and learning

We provide therapy, evaluations, professional development, and other educational resources to support children with speech, language, and learning disabilities through our partnerships with schools and physicians.

Humans are pattern-making creatures. It’s in our nature. We see patterns and solve problems, a process so commonplace we rarely think about it.

But for many children, even routine speech, language, and learning can be baffling. They find it challenging to solve the puzzles of everyday language—to connect the patterns in words and meaning, analogies and imagery, facial expressions, and even social contexts.

These kids require the right sort of tools to figure things out. They and their families deserve time and support from compassionate experts who can help them see the patterns, untangle the language riddles, and liberate their capacity to make sense of the world.

At Ethos, our goal is to help children solve the puzzle about how language works and to do so in light of their family’s own goals, strengths, and opportunities.

Speech-language pathologists treat many types of communication problems, such as

  • language (understanding what others are saying, using words to communicate, and comprehending what we read)

  • social communication (how we follow unspoken social rules, take turns, and relate to people)

  • cognitive communication (how we think and solve problems)

  • speech sounds (how we say sounds and put sounds together into words)

  • fluency (how well our speech flows)

Speech-language pathologists also partner with psychologists and physicians to evaluate and treat children suspected of having a variety of academic, emotional/behavioral, and developmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder.
